Privacy policy
What is stored
- Your email address, to let you sign in with a code we email you, and a session cookie in your browser for 30 days or until you sign out.
- What you confirmed when you signed up: that you are 13 or older, whether you are under 18 and, if so, that a parent, guardian or your school agrees, and when you accepted the Terms and which version. No birth date.
- When you ask for a sign-in code, type a wrong code or sign up, your network (IP) address is kept, hashed, for at most 24 hours to limit sign-ups and abuse.
- If an account is closed because its owner is under 13, or after an abuse match, a hashed form of its email address is kept so it can't sign up again.
- If you ask us to recognize your school district, the district name and state you typed and your email's domain, until we decide and for as long as your account exists.
- For each video project: its title, its kind (School, Business, Medicine, Fitness, Tourism or General), when you ticked the upload confirmation, and for Business, Fitness and Tourism projects whether you ticked the personal-information box.
- The files you upload, the questions and plans sent back, the short notes written while the work runs, your answers and notes, and the videos, captions and pictures that are made.
- For slide2video's processing: the project's working folder, kept between steps until you delete the project.
- Your credit history: top-ups, charges, refunds, grants, promo codes and reservations. Payments are handled by Stripe; slide2video keeps a Stripe customer reference, never your card number.
- The names of computers you connected, when they last checked in and which plugin version they run. When a computer starts connecting, its network (IP) address is kept for at most two hours to limit abuse.
- For each stock photo a project uses: its title, photographer and links, for its credit, until you delete the project.
- Usage numbers (decks, slides, videos, minutes, answers, changes, errors, pauses, plan estimates, step times). They hold no titles or content. They stay when you delete a video project; when you delete your account they are kept without your name.
- A short log of actions (uploads, deletions, exports, connected computers, payments) to investigate problems.
- Safety checks: a digital fingerprint of each picture is computed for the check and not kept. If a picture matches known abuse material, an abuse record (file names, sizes, fingerprints, upload time and the account's email address) and the files are kept apart from everything else for as long as the law requires, at least one year after the report.
Where
On Cloudflare (hosting, file storage, database, sending sign-in emails, and the cloud environment that runs slide2video's processing). Storage is set to prefer western North America; Cloudflare does not guarantee a US-only location. Cloudflare keeps its own short-lived security logs of visits, including network addresses, under its privacy policy.
Who receives what
For slide2video's processing, slide2video itself sends:
| Sent to | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude, through its API) | Your slides, notes, documents and their pictures | To read the material and write the plan and script |
| ElevenLabs | The narration text | To make the voice |
| Prompts for music and clips, and the photos used in clips | To make optional music and animated clips | |
| Unsplash, Pexels and Pixabay (photo libraries) | Short search words naming a place, never your files or account details | To find licensed stock photos for a Tourism video |
| Shield by Project Arachnid (see below) | Picture fingerprints only, never the pictures | The safety check |
| Stripe | Your email address and the payment | To take payment for credits |
These companies process what slide2video sends under their own terms and privacy policies, which slide2video does not control.
slide2video accesses Shield by Project Arachnid (projectarachnid.ca), a program of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Inc., to facilitate the detection and removal of child sexual abuse material and harmful-abusive material of children and survivors of child sexual abuse on its services.
When a project is made on your own computer, the website sends your files only to that computer. What happens there runs under your own accounts and the AI tool you choose, which slide2video does not control. The website never sends one person's files to another person's computer.
What is never done
No advertising, no selling or sharing of your data beyond the services above, no profiles of you or of anyone in your material.
How long, and your rights
- Everything stays until you delete it. Deleting a video project removes it from the site at once and from your computer the next time it checks in.
- Deleting your account removes your material. Your credit history is kept without your name or projects (amounts, dates and Stripe references), so that payments and refunds can still be matched. Abuse records are kept as the law requires.
- Deleted data can remain in Cloudflare's database backups for up to 30 days.
- You can download everything, including your credit history, redeemed promo codes, your sign-up answers and when each sign-in session started and when it ends (Account → Download everything), or delete your account at any time.
Young people
slide2video is for people 13 and older. If an account turns out to belong to someone younger, it is closed and its data deleted.
School projects
School projects must never contain student information, and no profile of any student is ever made. A school district that needs a signed Washington Student Data Privacy Agreement can ask for one.
Medicine projects
Medicine projects must not contain patient information. Anything uploaded anyway is handled like your other files and kept until you delete the project.
If something goes wrong
If your data is exposed, you will be told by email within 72 hours of it being discovered.
