Terms of use
slide2video.com turns slide decks you have the right to use into narrated videos. By creating an account you agree to these terms.
Who may use slide2video
- You must be at least 13 years old. Accounts we learn belong to someone younger are closed and their data deleted. Sign-up asks you to confirm this.
- If you are under 18, a parent, guardian or your school must agree to these terms for you. Sign-up asks you to confirm this.
- You sign in with a code we email you. Your browser then keeps a session cookie for 30 days, or until you sign out.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself.
How videos are made
A video project is made in one of two ways:
- slide2video's processing. slide2video does the work in its own cloud environment, using AI services it pays for (named in the Privacy policy). It is paid from your credits.
- Your own computer, where your account allows it. You connect a computer that runs the slide2video plugin in an AI tool of your choice, under your own accounts. Those tools and accounts have their own terms, which you follow; slide2video does not control them. Connect only your own computer and accounts, and never connect your computer to someone else's slide2video account.
- Business, Medicine, Fitness and Tourism projects are open to anyone with credits, and to accounts a promo code or slide2video allows.
- Stock photos. When a Tourism deck has no photo of a place it names, slide2video's processing may add a stock photo of that place from a photo library whose photos are all licensed for commercial use. Each one is credited in the video and on the project page.
What you may upload
- Material you made or have the right to use: slides, PDFs, documents, images. Sharing it here must be lawful and follow your organization's rules, including on personal data.
- You confirm this with a tick when you start a video project. For Business, Fitness, Tourism and General projects the tick reads: “I have the right to use this material, and sharing it here follows the law and my organization's rules, including on personal data.”
- Business, Fitness and Tourism projects may include personal information about people, such as employees, only if you are allowed to share it. The optional checkbox “This material includes personal information about people (for example employees).” is a reminder for you; it does not change how the project is processed.
- Never upload sexual content, graphic violence, hateful material, material made to mock a real person, or anything that sexualizes minors.
School projects
- School projects never contain student information. Their tick reads: “These files DO NOT contain student information: no student names, photos of students, student work or grades.”
Medicine projects
- Medicine projects never contain patient information. Their tick reads: “These files DO NOT contain patient information: no patient names, photos that show who a patient is, records or anything else that identifies a patient.”
- Slides that look like patient information are found by an automated check before the video is made; you choose to remove them or confirm they aren't about patients.
Safety checks
- Before slide2video's processing reads a project, every picture in its files is checked against known child sexual abuse material by comparing digital fingerprints. An automated check of the slides follows.
- If material matches, the project is locked, the account is put on hold, the files are kept as evidence for as long as the law requires, and the material is reported to the authorities (in the US, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children). Only slide2video decides whether an account is restored.
- Other material that breaks these terms is refused with a plain reason.
Credits
- slide2video's processing is paid from prepaid credits, bought through Stripe in packs of $10, $25 and $50. You pay exactly the pack price and receive that much credit.
- Credits are used only on slide2video. They never expire, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred or sold.
- Before a step runs, its estimated cost is reserved from your credits. Each step is charged for what it actually uses, and the unused part of a reservation returns to your balance. If a step needs more than was reserved, the project pauses and asks you first.
- Steps that fail because of a problem on slide2video's side are not charged, within limits that prevent misuse.
- Deleting a project while a step is running charges what that step has already used.
- Deleting your account ends any remaining credit.
Refunds and disputes
- Credits are not refundable.
- If slide2video refunds a payment, for example after a double charge, the refund goes through Stripe to the card that paid. It is the amount paid minus the card-processing fees Stripe charged for the original payment and for the refund. The credit that payment bought is removed from your balance.
- If you dispute a payment with your bank, the credit it bought is removed. If that credit was already spent, the account may be put on hold until the dispute is resolved.
Promo codes
- A promo code is made for one person, tied to their email address, and works once.
- Its credit never expires once redeemed. It has no cash value and cannot be transferred.
- slide2video may withdraw a code that has not been redeemed. Access to paid kinds of video that came with a code may be withdrawn for new projects.
Your material and the videos
- You keep ownership of everything you upload and of the videos made from it, except the stock photos added to them: those stay their photographers', under their library's licence. You may use them as part of the video, not on their own (no reselling, prints, logos or trade marks). They come without a model or property release, so take care with recognisable people and private property in an advert, never imply that anyone shown endorses you, and keep the credits with the video.
- slide2video stores and processes your material only to make your videos and to run the service.
The videos are yours to check
- Videos are made by AI from your material. They can contain mistakes, leave things out, or use wording that does not suit your audience. Review every video before you use it.
- A stock photo shows the place, not necessarily your hotel, vehicle, guide or tour. Check each one before you use the video to sell.
- slide2video is not responsible for how a video is shown or used, or for what follows from it in your school, business or anywhere else, including grades, assessments, training results, decisions, or any task a viewer completes or fails.
Limits of liability
- slide2video is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
- slide2video is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or opportunities.
- slide2video's total liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to US$50.
The service
- The service may change or stop. You will get at least 30 days' notice by email to download your material.
- Accounts that break these terms may be put on hold or closed.
- When these terms change, you will be told by email or on the site before the change takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in King County, Washington.
